plumbersinireland.ie is operated by Dave Coleman, a sole trader based in Dublin, Ireland. For data protection purposes, Dave Coleman is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

What Data We Collect

Enquiry data

When you send an enquiry to a listed contractor through this site, we collect:

• Your name
• Your county or location
• Your phone number or email address
• A description of the job you need done

Your enquiry is emailed directly to the contractor you chose to contact, so they can respond to you. A copy is received by the site operator to provide support and to guard against misuse. Your enquiry is not sold on, and it is not passed to any party other than the contractor you contacted. Email delivery is handled by our email provider, Resend.

Contractor listing data

For the directory itself, we hold business contact information for listed plumbers and gas installers: business name, address, telephone and mobile number, email address where it is published, county, and registration number. This information is sourced from public registers, the Registered Gas Installer (RGI) register at rgi.ie and the National Guild of Master Craftsmen, both of which publish their registered members. It is business contact information taken from those public registers, not collected from the contractor directly. A listed contractor can ask to have their details corrected or removed at any time, see Your rights under GDPR below.

Website usage data

We collect anonymised usage data through analytics tools to understand how visitors use this site. This includes pages visited, time on site, and general device/browser information. We do not use this data to identify individuals.

Cookies

This site uses essential cookies required for the site to function (for example, session management). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies beyond what is necessary for analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; this may affect some site functionality.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data we hold to:

• Send your enquiry directly to the contractor you chose to contact
• Show listed contractors to homeowners searching by county
• Respond to any direct enquiries you send us by email

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for direct marketing without your explicit consent.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data on the basis of your consent (when you submit a form on this site) and legitimate interests. For website analytics, our legitimate interest is understanding how this site is used so we can improve it. For the contractor directory, our legitimate interest is publishing business contact information that is already on a public register, so homeowners can find a registered contractor. A listed contractor can object to this and ask to be corrected or removed at any time.

Data Retention

Enquiries exist only as email, in our inbox and the contractor's; there is no separate store of enquiry data, and email correspondence is retained for up to three years. Analytics data is retained for 24 months in aggregate, anonymised form.

Your Rights Under GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to processing
• Request restriction of processing
• Data portability

Complaints

If you have concerns about how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC) at dataprotection.ie.

Third Parties

This site works with the following third-party services:

• Resend: our email provider, used to deliver your enquiry by email to the contractor you contacted
• Cloudflare: provides hosting, CDN and DDoS protection, and the Turnstile bot-protection on the enquiry form; may log IP addresses in access logs
• Google Fonts: fonts are loaded from Google's CDN; this constitutes a connection to Google's servers

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
